Below you will find some of the steps we take in cleaning your antique, vintage and collectible hand-knotted rugs:

Pre-cleaning Security

  • Examine every rug to determine the appropriate cleaning process.
  • Determine pre-cleaning security for older rugs.
  • Check for stability and fastness of dyes.
  • Dust rugs prior to washing using the most current methods available today. Deep dusting is an important step in the cleaning process and is usually not included at cleaners offering on-site cleaning, dry cleaning, steam cleaning and other non-water immersion cleaning services.
  • Apply pre-treatment for stain removal.
  • Hand wash every rug.

USEFUL TIPS for Treating Spills, Stains and Spots at Home

Attend to accidents promptly. Blot or scoop area with an absorbent [white] cotton towel, paper towel or spoon and remove as much as possible. Test a small inconspicuous area first. Use cool water; warm water when directed; never hot water. Use the least amount of liquid, don’t saturate; place a towel on reverse side. Blot, don’t rub back and forth; no brushing or scrubbing. Work from outside edges of spot inward to the center. Use recommended solutions in moderation.
